Arnhem, January 27, 2022 – This week Microsoft announced their 2022 Release Wave 1 for Dynamics 365, a compilation of capabilities planned to be released between April and September of 2022.

This wave brings new innovations and hundreds of new features across Dynamics 365 applications, demonstrating their continued investment to power digital transformation.

For Human Resources, the focus will be on 3 key areas:

  • Improving business automation: Equip HR professionals with the ability to tailor experiences and automatically complete processes when employees are joining, leaving, and moving within an organization.
  • Intelligent talent management: Provide intelligent talent management capabilities to enable companies to ensure the right people are in the right jobs and plan for future investments.
  • Environment migration: Deliver migration capabilities to enable moving to the merged infrastructure.

In this article we will focus on two key areas: the infrastructure merge, the new integrations and extensibility

Dynamics 365 HR infrastructure merges with Finance and Operations

As announced in July 2021, Dynamics 365 Human Resources is merging with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

A public preview for this merge is estimated for March 2022 and the general availability estimated for June 2022.

This means that standalone customers of Dynamics 365 HR or Dynamics 365 F&O need to migrate to the new infrastructure.

What it means for customers

Customers using the standalone Dynamics 365 HR module need to:

  • Copy data and migrate Power Platform extensions to the Citizen Application Platform infrastructure.

Customers  using  both Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 HR need to:

  • Copy data and migrate Power Platform extensions to the Citizen Application Platform infrastructure.
  • Create entities where needed.
  • Export from the Human Resources environment and import into the Finance environment.

Integration and extensibility

A core focus for Dynamics 365 Human Resources is ensuring customers can extend and expand application functionality through integrations and customizations. According to Microsoft, they are making new integrations available and providing new features that streamline custom integrations through Microsoft Dataverse.

What it means in practice

This merge is the first step in unifying user and maintenance experience for all Dynamics modules, be it HR, Sales, Finance, Customer Engagement, or Power Apps.

As FourVision, we will contribute with our web apps to add additional business processes out of the box by plugging them natively in  Microsoft Dynamics and ensuring the same user experience”, – says Edward Moll, Technical Solutions Architect at FourVision”
